Full-fledged Windows 98 – right on your wrist!
This project is a real technical trick and an ode to nostalgia. The author managed to integrate a full-fledged Windows 98 operating system into a miniature wearable device, essentially a wristwatch. The project is based on a modular assembly with a display, a microcomputer and a battery that fits into a watch case.
What’s inside?
- Hardware platform: one of the SBC generations (probably Raspberry Pi or analog).
- Windows 98 emulator – most often QEMU or DOSBox is used.
- A touchscreen or mini-display with a resolution suitable for displaying the old interface.
- A rechargeable battery with sufficient capacity to run the system for short periods of time.
- A 3D printed enclosure to house all the hardware.
Why it’s necessary?
This is not a practical solution – it’s hardwar art made for the sake of the very idea: “What if?”. This is one of those projects that stirs the imagination, inspires and shows how far you can go in DIY engineering.
